In the mid ’80s, my friends and I were caught up in the ninja craze that had gripped the nation.  Every weekend, we were glued to the TV watching any karate-based movie that we could find on HBO or on VHS tapes at our local video store.  The one flick, however, that ended up being my absolute favorite was one that the other guys didn’t care for whatsoever — “The Last Dragon”.

As far as I was concerned, it had it all:  fights, music, comedy, homages to other kung-fu movies, quotable dialogue, and more than anything, memorable characters.

Bruce Leroy.

Sho’nuff.

Over the years, I’ve managed to only come across a few pieces that feature the cast of the movie.  One of my favorites is this print that I picked up recently of Sho’Nuff.

Julius Carry, the actor that played the larger-than-life Shogun of Harlem, sadly passed away in 2008 of pancreatic cancer.  I wish I would have sought out his autograph as I’d love to create a custom piece with his and Taimak’s signatures.  Maybe some day I’ll come across a legit autograph from the man, the myth himself.

“Am I the meanest?”  Sho’nuff!

“Am I the prettiest?”  Sho’nuff!

“Am I the baddest mofo low down around this town?”  Sho’nuff!

“Well, who am I?”  Sho’nuff!

“Who am I?”  Sho’nuff!

“I can’t hear you.”

SHO’NUFF!!!

Gotta love it.
